[ARCHIVED] Coronavirus Update

Message from the Fire Chief:

As the local resource for emergency health information, the Bedford Fire Department is providing the following:

  • Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and many other common respiratory viruses spread through contact with an infected person’s respiratory droplets, such as when a person coughs or sneezes.
  • To prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, the CDC recommends that individuals engage in everyday preventive measures to help stop the spread of germs and avoid illness.
  • Handwashing and avoiding close contact with people who are sick are everyday preventative measures.

There are currently no confirmed COVID-19 cases in NH.  The precautions are not extraordinary.  As professionals in the healthcare field, our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff is prepared to respond in the event of a health emergency.  We know that the best response is a prepared, well-informed community.  In the case of respiratory viruses, prevention is our community’s best protection.  If the level of precaution changes, we will provide further updates.
