(Concord, NH) – Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald and Bedford Police Chief John J. Bryfonski announce that an arrest has been made today in connection with a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2019, in Bedford, New Hampshire.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., on Thursday, August 15, 2019, Bedford Police responded to a reported motor vehicle collision on Route 101. James R. Raymond (age 59) was found lying in the road near his crashed motorcycle with a head injury. Andrew Duffy was identified as the driver of the car who collided with Mr. Raymond from behind. Mr. Raymond was taken to a local hospital where he later died due to a head injury suffered in the collision.
Mr. Duffy has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide for negligently causing Mr. Raymond’s death by failing to keep a proper lookout while driving and causing a collision, which resulted in the death of Mr. Raymond. Mr. Duffy has also been charged with an alternative count of vehicular assault for negligently causing or materially contributing to Mr. Raymond’s death in the same manner. Bail was set at $10,000 cash or corporate surety.
Mr. Duffy is expected to be arraigned on June 30, 2020 in the Hillsborough County Superior Court, North.
The charges and allegations are merely accusations, and Mr. Duffy is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
