[ARCHIVED] Road Closure/School Traffic Plan - November 8, 2022 Election - Bedford High School

November 4, 2022

On Tuesday November 8, 2020 from 7:00am-7:00pm the Town of Bedford will conduct the midterm election on the campus of Bedford High School. This year’s election is expected to draw a heavier turnout that previous midterm elections.  As such, the traffic plan implemented will be similar to that of the general election in 2020.

Nashua Road southbound from Route 101 will be reduced to a one lane near the Bedford High school entrance and will only allow vehicles to turn right into the campus to vote.  This means that all non-voting traffic should take another route southbound such as Wallace Road or Liberty Hill Road instead.   The left turn lane from Nashua Road southbound onto County Road and the straight lane that crosses the intersection at County Road will be closed.

Vehicles exiting the campus will be permitted to turn right to travel southbound on Nashua Road or straight across to County Road. Vehicles exiting the campus will not be permitted to make a left turn onto Nashua Road.

Also, Nashua Road northbound from Gage Road to the entrance of the Bedford Bluffs will be closed to local traffic/residents only.  The intersection of Nashua Road northbound at the entrance to the Bedford Bluffs will be closed to all vehicles.  No vehicle will be permitted northbound on Nashua Road past this point.

Any vehicle travelling north on Nashua Road from Wallace Road to vote will be directed to turn onto Gage Road, then north onto Liberty Hill Road, and then left on County Road and into the campus.  Any non-voting traffic should also turn down Gage Road, left onto Liberty Hill Road and straight to Route 101.  Wallace Road will not have any road closures on it.

Any vehicle travelling west on County Road at the intersection of Nashua Road will not be allowed to turn left onto Nashua Road south.  They will only be allowed to go straight across to the campus to voting or right onto Nashua Road towards Route 101.

There will be two traffic lanes going into the school and designated by traffic cones.  Parking is available in the lots in the front of the school or in the rear of the school near the gymnasium where all voting is held.   Handicapped parking will be located in the rear parking lot near the gymnasium as well.  All vehicles are asked to pull into the furthest available parking space in the lot so as not to block travel lanes at the front of the parking lots.

Please plan accordingly and thank you for your patience.  If you have any questions please contact Deputy Chief Dan Douidi at 472-5113 ext. 331 or Captain Mike Monahan at 472-5113 ext. 335.
