Chief John J. Bryfonski reports that the Bedford Police Department has cited a driver who crashed head-on into a parked Bedford cruiser early Monday morning.
On Monday, Sept. 11, at approximately 1:20 a.m., a Bedford Police officer was conducting stationary radar on Route 101 in the area of Covenant Way.
The officer was parked on the eastbound side of the roadway when the driver of an oncoming 2010 Ford Focus, who was traveling west on Route 101, fell asleep at the wheel and crossed all lanes of travel, striking the officer’s cruiser head-on.
The officer was transported to an area hospital with injuries not believed to be serious. The driver, a 23-year-old male, declined transport.
The driver was issued a citation for Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
